The new initiative of Xarkis, titled \u201cProzymin\u201d, refers to the sourdough cultivation which is the basis of fresh dough for bread making. Over the years, bread has gained special significance in the consciousness of people, being the number one staple food of the population of Cyprus and other countries of this region.<\/p>\n

In Cypriots\u2019 daily life, the word \u201cprozymin\u201d had acquired a metaphorical meaning: it was used when people wanted to declare the real essence, the base, the core, the \u201cyeast\u201d, in order for something new to begin.<\/p>\n

Hence, our new initiative aims at creating a \u201cnew yeast\u201d through exploring the meaning of prozymin in the context of contemporary design proposals.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will feature experiments, processes and outcomes from the first phase of the project. Join us to see how we used traditional handcrafts in alternative contexts and how we used upcycled materials to design and create furniture.<\/p>\n

MAKERsHOUSE Residency \u2013 January 2019<\/p>\n

MAKERsHOUSE Residency Programme<\/p>\n

aims at offering a platform for creation and entrepreneurship, enhancing research and development through modern technologies.<\/p>\n

The Residency Project will allow the development of a creative interaction between creators and organisations\/institutions that support their innovative ideas. Selected creators will have their own mentor who will provide guidance on the implementation of the proposed idea.<\/p>\n

The Residency will end with a public exhibition of the project which will have been developed through Makerhouse project.<\/p>\n
