EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in interactive technology workshops, engaging activities, and craft-making. Your participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and no registration is required.

USEFUL SCOUTING SKILLS

The scout, as a resourceful maker, learns to be inventive and to make creations from natural as well as artificial materials. Through useful skills, he is taught to be “Eso Ready”, i.e. always prepared to face anything, at any time. In our booth, you will find various pioneer camping techniques, as well as crafts and demonstrations of basic knots and connections.

Scouting is a voluntary educational movement with global action, open to all, without discrimination. The purpose is to contribute to the proper education and development of the youth with an emphasis on outdoor life so that they can fully utilize their physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual abilities as individuals and also integrate smoothly into society as responsible citizens.

WOODWORKING ACTIVITIES

In today’s media world, it can be very satisfying to use our hands, some tools, and our creativity to create a tangible work of art. Working with wood is a wonderful medium to express our ideas and create something special. We are a group of individuals driven by a passion for woodworking, child development, the environment, and sustainability.

In our workshops children as young as five will have a successful woodworking experience if they are allowed to master one skill at a time. Participants will use real, child-sized tools, nurturing their creativity to produce unique masterpieces. We emphasize safety as well as the pleasure of making unique items. Each child produces their own projects and all completed woodwork pieces are taken home by the children.

Our education philosophy is that all children are unique and should have a stimulating educational environment where they can develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

LASER CUTTERS AND STEAM TOYS
The Birds of Cyprus & Spanos and the 40 Dragons

Driven by the desire to combine culture with technology, three women collaborate and launch the educational toy line Makers Will Make: STEAM TOYS. Makers Will Make is a makerspace dedicated to contemporary and award-winning design innovation. It is based in Limassol, Cyprus, and has been operating since 2018.

Based on Cypriot themes, STEAM TOYS are created through the use of digital rapid prototyping equipment, combined with traditional manufacturing methods. The designer Eva Korai, in collaboration with the actress, theater teacher Theodora Andreou, and Naia T. Karakosta, actress, theater teacher, and performer, using the nature and culture of Cyprus as a starting point, create STEAM TOYS educational games for children.

At the Makers Fair, we will use the laser cutter to create the toys. Children will have the opportunity to assemble their birds and dragons, play with shadows, and make stories.
