Larnaca BioDesign Festival 2023

Youth Makerspace Larnaka once again contributed most innovatively, to the creation of the Larnaka Bio Design Festival in collaboration with Larnaka 2030, within the parallel actions of the Larnaca Biennale.

Bio Design is an interdisciplinary approach that combines biology, technology, and design, seeking to create works of art, innovative products, and solutions based on the principles of nature and biological diversity.

Our team, as well as the equipment available in the space, helped to create works of art and present workshops by various artists, designers, and researchers. In particular, the Mycelium Pavilion that was exhibited in Zohouri Square, as well as the bases of Elina Hatzinikola’s sculptures, were created in our woodworking workshop and on the laser cutter machine.

Among other things, the Youth Makerspace organized and hosted the ‘Natural Colours’ workshop in which bio-dyes were produced from natural sources, as well as the ‘Living Textiles’ workshop in which textures were created from algae.
