MICROGLYPTIKI – FOUNDATION OF CULTURAL CREATION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE OF LARNACA – Irini Constantinou
Come and learn the art of micro-sculpture and create freely, a three-dimensional object from clay, using only your hands (handbuilding). The aim of the workshop is the exploration of imagination and creative expression and the development of motor/technical skills with a natural material that we have been using since ancient times until today. You will learn techniques and ways in which you can shape the material, join forms and experiment with its plasticity to make small works of art, utilitarian objects or simply to capture your feelings and ideas!
The Foundation for Cultural Creation for Children and Youth, was founded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and has been operating as a non-profit organization since July 2010, with the support of the Cultural Services of the Deputy Ministry of Culture. Its purpose is creativity, the provision of equal opportunities to access and participate in cultural goods, the strengthening of interculturalism, the promotion and preservation of our cultural identity and, in general, the contribution to any cultural and artistic programs or events, with an emphasis on children, teenagers and young people. The aim of the Foundation is to provide a ‘healthy’ environment for children and young people of all ages, where they can create, regardless of background or economic status, by providing, among others, theater, music, personal development, creative writing, creative workshops based on architecture and cinema. In addition to workshops and seminars, the Foundation also organizes external events, in collaboration with various Organizations and Bodies, through which art and culture are promoted.
USEFUL SKILLS – Cyprus Scouts
Scouting is a voluntary educational movement, for young people and open to all, to contribute to the correct education and development of young people with an emphasis on outdoor life, so that they can fully utilize their physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual abilities as individuals and also to integrate smoothly into society as responsible citizens and members of local, national and international communities.
Through his training, the scout learns to be “Eso Ready”, that is, always ready to face anything at any time. That is why as a resourceful “maker” he learns to handle the ropes with ease and to build constructions from natural as well as technical materials. At our booth, you will find various small-scale constructions such as models of pioneer camping equipment as well as scouts where you can learn the basic knots and connections.
